Lesotho College of Education Rector's Message – June 2016

I warmly welcome you all to the website of the Lesotho College of Education.
My return to the College, in the new role of Rector, brings back memories of times when teaching and regulation were not as complicated by law as it is the case today. Yet, it also highlights emergence of the “New Order” to modern stakeholder Management in the education sector.  A situation I highly admire and embrace.
Our College motto in Sesotho is “Re bona leseli, leseling la hau”, which translates to “We see light, through your light”.

As I walk around the different areas of the College, humbling past memories come to mind, as I have a second chance to meet some of the familiar faces who I heartily thank for keeping the fire burning in this beautiful space. This is the kind of continuity one may not ignore.
Our College’s primary mission is to train and produce competent teachers for the school system in Lesotho. The matter which encompasses elements such as principles of human development and sustainability
This purpose cannot be separated from the most topical issues in African education quality assurance. A reminder of the common denominators that poses three of the main challenges to the Lesotho tertiary education sector namely; Limited financial resources for growth, Accreditation and quality assurance of products and services and concerns to ensure visionary leadership.
My recent visit to our Thaba-Tseka satellite Campus reminded me of the different levels at which higher education institutions are and the expectations of common results despite the factual information on differences.  I wish however to assure all our stakeholders that our students shall remain our valuable assets as we continue to focus on their growth and success.
I am committed to academic excellence and support across the range of student ability, including values-based leadership, curriculum and extensive sports and cultural programmes. The College members shall be encouraged to take part in scheduled community engagement initiatives and partnerships in our endeavour to build our communities.
I sincerely believe that team work can reward extensively over time. It might not be easy in the beginning. It is the journey that I believe in and together we can start today into a new future.

I thank you for visiting the LCE web portal where we can share with you our journey and celebrate our milestones of success as a team.
